Preface
Preface It is indeed a momentous occasion to present a book on UGC-NET/SET ( JRF & LS) English Literature based on the new syllabus and patterns as per year 2018. This book is the outcome of feedback got from students. The present book is divided into ten chapters as per the syllabus for UGC-NET. This book includes the major and minor writers of all periods and has a note on the writers and a short analysis of their works. Writers like " Ted Hughes, Toni Morrison appear in more than one section since they have distinguished themselves in more than one branch of Literature. To make this book reader friendly explanations are given for most of the questions, which will broaden the background knowledge of the readers and enhance their capacity for critical thinking and analysis. We also would like to point out that the explanations given beneath the questions will save the time of the students, Hence, the readers are requested to try to attend the objective questions given in the book and refer to answers later. More weightage is given to Unit-7 Contemporary Period, focusing on Research Methodology. Previous year's questions with explanations have also been included for the aspirants to brush up their memory and Unit-8 American and Other non British Literature (nearly 80 books were referred for Commonwealth Literature and 60 for Indian Writing in English and American Literature). Even though all possible efforts were taken to avoid technical and factual errors, still some errors might have escaped our notice. Valuable suggestions are always welcome from the readers. We wish the aspirants All the Very Best and have a bright future. Eagerly waiting to hear your success stories.
