| Preface | Objective Type and Conventional Questions and Answers on Civil Engineering for All Types of Examinations & Interviews - The author feels great pleasure to proclaim that he served the Government of India at different posts including teaching Civil Engineering Subjects for over thirty seven years and this well accepted treatise "Objective type and conventional solved questions with synopses of Civil Engineering has served candidates of UPSC Engineering Services Examinations/GATE and other important examinations for about thirty eight years whose first edition was published in 1979, the year UPSC adopted the pattern of examinations through Multiple Objective Type Questions. Addition of new chapters, Engineering Geology, Hydrology Water Resource Engineering and Indian Environmental Law have been added according to the latest types of questions being asked and also added some questions of relevant matter in every chapter. The latest questions of UPSC Engineering Services /GATE have been added for the guidance of the candidates. Answers of the questions of each chapter have been given at the end of each chapter. This thoroughly revised edition and addition of latest questions will prove this treatise more useful for all types of examinations in Civil Engineering. The author shall be thankful to the readers for the suggestions and criticisms for the improvement of next edition of the treatise. Interview in civil engineering - The whole structure of the book has been divided into five chapters. Chapter I deals with Secrets of Success in Examinations and interview Chapter-II deals with General Awareness whereas Chapter-III IV and V contain all the Civil Engineering papers in brief without omitting any important Chapter or topic. Thus all the five chapters are of prime importance for those who are to face either competitions of Interviews and looking for an Executive Career. The favorable response by the readers all over India, has encouraged me to present this thoroughly revised and enlarged edition. In this edition one new sub-chapter on Water Harvesting has been added and chapter 2 has been updated and enlarged. |
